Double Trouble

Scully and her best friend Bean:

Spider Orgy

NC Spiders

These Argiope's aka NC Black and Yellow Garden Spiders usually start showing up in September and stick around till the end of October. We've usually got around 1/2 dozen of them around the yard every year. They're apparently harmless to humans but still freak me and Kindra out since they bounce their webs when you get close to them. So yeah. Argiope's. Scary but pretty.

Crisis Update

I found a belt for the vacuum: $3
Heat Pump/AC is installed: $0 (I haven't gotten the bill yet)
Loaner AC: $0 (AC guys got it to work!)
Stereo Amplifier: Having it repaired hopefully. They'll call if the repair costs more than $150.

Having air conditioning is real nice.

The creation of Stanley?!?

Here's a pic of my dad helping with me and Kindra's guest bath remodel. He looks quite religious in his whites if you ask me.

Bad, bad month.

So far this month Kindra and I have lost:

Vacuum - $80 (broken due to irreplaceable belt)
Heat Pump - $7,000 (broken due to faulty 4-way valve and being old as dirt)
Loaner A/C - $500 (lightning)
Stereo Amplifier - $600 (lightning)

In addition to spending:

New roof - $6,000
Entirely new plumbing (waste & supply) $3,000
Bathroom remodel - $3,000

Geesch. Jesus is maaaaaaad at us.

Haul

Here are some pics of my weekly pick. Having a garden is great! That's at least 25 bucks worth of tomatoes! Don't get me started on the cucumbers.

Rotten Apples

There's a lot of buzz going around the interwebz saying that a glitch in the design of the new iPhone's antenna is actually causing signal loss when a person holds the phone. Apple apparently knew about the problem ahead of time and is selling first-party supplemental rubber bands that try to circumvent the issue. They're advertising the bands as some sort of lifestyle gimmick and they're charging 29 bucks for them. If I were apple I'd give those things away for free. It's sad because I feel like apple used to be a beacon of good industrial design amongst an endless sea of technological garbage. But they're selling phones that you can't touch without dropping calls. What the heck??

Scully vs the rosebud

Video Test #2

I basically have dial-up internet so uploading 25mb may not seem like a lot but trust me, it is. I think I'll go make myself a sandwich while this uploads.

Here's another video. This time it's a higher quality clip of Scully doing a trick. She's supposed to stay on her butt and not stand up but... she gets excited and can't contain herself. I guess it's true, you should never work with kids or animals.

Video Test

I see that I can upload videos directly instead of linking to them from YouTube. Neat! Well here's a little test video of Scully and her "Wubba".

He-Man Woman Hatin'

Check out these vintage ads that depicts the objectification and abuse of women.

Do you think that guy wants to kill that lady cause she won't make him any toast?

Today in Adorable News

This is Bethany James Leigh Shady. She's the partner of Jorge Garcia (aka Hugo / Hurley on Lost). Anyway, I think she's as cute as a box of buttons and it's just as well since Jorge is also quite adorable. Beth's a writer, mostly kids stuff. Check out her and Jorge's websites, they're both pretty great!

This is Helen Mirren. She's 64.

Jack Donaghy : "Oh my... I haven't seen your brow that furrowed since you saw that picture of Helen Mirren in a bikini."

Liz Lemon : "How is it possible! Is she a wizard?"

Wanna know how I know we're dorks?

Because when Adam and I order a pizza, we order it with pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms. Why? Because that's what Agent Dana Scully orders in the X-Files episode "Bad Blood".

I hope this isn't our pizza guy!

Maybe this guy ate lead paint as a kid.

"To the ignorant neighbor who keeps calling the building inspector on me- f#$% off. There is no lead paint on this building. It was stripped in 1983."

This is the response of Jim Siegel, to continued harassment by an anonymous neighbor regarding the restoration of the home he purchased in a bougie San Francisco neighborhood for $750K. Apparently, this nosy neighbor kept making complaints against Mr. Siegel to the city's inspection department, saying stuff like he was stripping paint without proper containment systems (found to be false) and disturbing the peace with construction noises at the ungodly hour of 5pm.

Remind me to never restore a house in SF. Wait, I can't afford a house in SF. Scratch that.

This is for that Steve Jobs burn!

I like this.

How do you like them apples?

"By the way, what have you done that's so great? Do you create anything, or just criticize others work and belittle their motivations?"

-Apple CEO Steve Jobs in response to Gawker writer Ryan Tate's criticism of the company's business model.

I like the one scratching it's butt!

I will give you fair warning. This video will destroy you. Seriously though, the sloth at :36 in made me lose it.

Meet the sloths from Amphibian Avenger on Vimeo.

You can also find me at...

Although I'm a total slacker about it, I also write music reviews for Imageyenation.com. Check it out!

Scully and Jack

I have a feeling that I will max out the storage on here mighty quick if she keeps making that face.

*Update - Jack is my friend Laurie's son.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Art Dogo |ärt dôg-ō|. My name is Adam and I'm an architectural designer based in North Carolina. I started Art Dogo in 2007 as a means to display artistically composed photographs of things my dog Scully, had chewed on. Although I'm off to a late start with posting here, I'm looking forward to sharing photos and ramblings on various topics that interest me. Thanks for stopping by.
